🧢 About the “Catching Rover”
Tommy Dueñas
… is a former professional & All-American catcher. Born & raised in Miami, FL., played at Coral Gables High School & at Florida International University (FIU). Drafted his JR year in the 16th round of the 2002 MLB Draft, Tommy played seven seasons in the LA Angels, KC Royals, & Colorado Rockies organizations — reaching the Triple-A level.
After his professional playing career ….
he spent six years as the catching & hitting coach at Miami Dade College, producing 30+ draft picks. Was part of USA Baseball throughout multiple National Team scouting/coaching roles & highlighted by being an Assistant Coach on the 15u National Team in 2014. He then moved on to FIU as the Director of External Operations for his first two years & served as the volunteer assistant coach his third year. He is currently a scout for an MLB Organization since 2019.
With his combined years behind the plate, coaching, training & scouting catchers, Tommy understands the physical & mental demands of catching at every level.
